My minimal makeup month

Hi lovelies,

I have already announced my minimal makeup challenge on the blog and how it is share my thoughts and declutter some of the products.

First like these where my products:

IMG_5563

I have to tell you the firstly I really wanted to use up my expensive, none cruelty free products, so that is why my choices were most of my Bobbi Brown and MAC products. What I have chosen wrong: did not pick any of my eyeshadow palettes, so for the occasions I was only able to use bronzer, blusher and black eyeliner like on a normal working day, so I had to use my red matte lipstick for my night outs, which is not the most practical for a dinner and let’s be honest I love to use my darker lipsticks on a normal working day too.

I have never ever broken any of my makeup products yet (seriously not), but now on the 11th day my Clinique powder was broke into pieces in the changing room at work, so I had to cheat because the Foundation which I have picked not working without powder, so I used my NYX HD powder then.

The biggest positive thing in this challenge, that at the end of it I was always ready in 5-10 minutes, which is really reduced my getting ready time, I loved that I do not need to think much and being so quick, but really polished in the meanwhile and I have used up a lot of products!

Two of my beloved Bobbi Brown products became deserted during the month (like totally): my Perfectly Defined Long-Wear Brow Pencil in Blonde, which I have replaced my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade and I realized I do not like this, it is not quick at all, so I should look for a dupe of this pencil. And also my lip color in Sandwash Pink just gone…By the end of the month I have used up my Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, which I will repurchase for sure, just now I will have 2 more mini Urban Decay to try, NYX Epic Ink I want to repurchase it during the upcoming coupon days, until I have a Lush, MAC Prep+ Prime lip- I will take back to MAC to get a free lipstick (which I will sell ) and I gonna go for my Carmex instead.

Then I have checked my freshness of the rest and decuttered my BB bronzer, highlighter and pot rouge, honestly I will miss them all, but I should be strong and strict. My Pink Glow Highlighter’s bottom has been broken for a few month, so it is not so wise to use as it is oxidizing so much.

Then I also had some non-CF products, which I nearly used up: MAC Paint pot, Fix+ and Prep+prime lips will take Back2MAC while my Strobe cream goes to one of my friends. Even the two other lipsticks are not Cruelty free I will try to use them up as they were so expensive.

My favourite product would be Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, which has so good coverage without showing my fine lines under my eye area. My least favourite was the NYX HD powder, which dries my skin so much, so that is not a great day-to-day powder for me. Specially it is not works with camera flash…

Here some other expired makeup:

Will I be minimal in makeup?

Definitely NO, it is really kills my creativity, totally missed my eyeshadow palettes but I will make a wise amount of makeup collection! I might need to do this challenge again with some better choices.

Travel size beauty

Hi lovelies,

It is time to write about travel size beauties, are they worst the money or not? Comment below what you think!

Recently I am in love with travelsizes, these are so great to try to experiment an expensive product. They are cuties, little and cost less. Of course people can say the value size and the original sizes more worst the price… it is true in certain cases, if you can use all the products up before its expire?

So what do I mean under the expiry of beauty stuffs? On the cans you can see the periode-after-opening symbol, which means for the opening for how long time you can use the products, like usually:

  • Liquid face products: (Foundations/ concealers, blush):12-18 months
  • Liquid eyes products (liner, mascara): 3-6 months
  • Lipsticks, lip gloss: 12-24 months
  • Powders (bronzer, blush, eyeshadow ect.): 18 -36 months

pao

So yeah, you might change your whole collections in every 3 years, because keeping old products can expose us to harmful toxins and cause serious health problems (specially the eyes). So you really have to protect and take care of them.

Shelf life is also important, usually the cosmetics can be stored for 3 years. So I would really suggest to check out all your cosmetics using the batch code, which is normal on the side or button of your products. Also it is great to check them at store (if you can).

So for me using up a full size of powder like blush or highlighter is nearly impossible, that is why I would rather buy their travel or mini size powder, might be more expensive per unit, but what is expensive means- if I can not use it up that is totally not worst the money. Like my heartbreaking by the very expensive Chanel powder is a one which I will never ever use up (30g) due to its size and being non CF is on sale now. Or products which you do not use that often, like blue eye liner mini size is enough. + they are also easier to travel with:).

While the skincare and cleanser products are totally the oposite, normal size like 250 – 400 ml are the best, for a face cream is the 50 ml (enough for a half year).

Just some of my recommendations on Travel Size products:

  • Hourglass: Ambient Lightning Blush, Bronzer and Powder; Veil PowderKéptalálat a következőre: „hourglass mini”
  • Urban Decay: Primer Portion
  • Tarte: Blushes
  • Becca: Highlighter
  • Too Faced: Better Than Sex Mascara Waterproof
  • Natasha Denona: Mini Eyeshadow palettesKéptalálat a következőre: „natasha denona mini”
  • Drunk Elephant: Minis
  • Képtalálat a következőre: „drunk elephant mini”

Cruelty free dupes of my Bobbi Brown favourites

Hi lovelies,

Now I am on focus of my favourite Bobbi Brownproducts’ dupes, which are cruelty free. Bobbi Brown is one of my favorite makeup brand, I love her way of thinking about natural beauty, however I hate that they do tests on animals due to their Chinese market. In generally I had only 2 times a product that just not worked on me: Foundation stick is my love-hate product, but might because it would be better for dry skin (in some winter days I loved it) and the concealer which was too thick for me. I have their makeup remover oil, eye and the yellow face cream, they are good, but there are some others with are as good as with a better price tag. Since I am decided to become cruelty free I am stopped buying them. I will be honest, yes this is going to be the brand’s products are which I will use out and not going to repurchase them till they are not CF.

The famous gel liner was not my favourite, however I only had Union Jack limited edition color, which is a perfect blue, but it was too hard to work with.

Not TOP, but I gonna miss:

Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick: The packaging is really great. I have Pink Sparkle, which is a nice frosty shimmery pink. It isreally close to Zoeva’s Graphic eyes might purchase one or more in different shades… which is an exact dupe: Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow #34 Pearly Quartz Rose… might be it is time to check Kiko’s website again, as they have affordable and amazing products.

Smokey eye mascara: one of the best mascara I have ever used, but I am in love with Too Faced Better Than Sex now.

bb-smokey

Highlighting Powder Pink Glow: is a beautiful frosty rose highlighter, which is my favourite for my winter makeup, yes, mine holder was broken so I will definitely need to replace with Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lightning Powder in the shade Incandescent. Thankfully they have a travel size, as I know I will never ever use of 9g highlighter in 24 months.

FAVOURITES

Bronzing Powder- Stonestreet: this is the perfect bronzer: no shimmer, matte but not chalky, really long-lasting, no orange, green or mud undertone, no fragrance, blends nicely and highly pigmented. I am just hoping that Marc Jacobs O!mega bronzer is something similar…

bb-stonestreet

Potrouge- PalePink: this is my go to favourite pink cream blush and also a light pink lipstick, I am just into a more expensive one: Tata Harper’s Volumising Lip and Cheek Tint in very charming.

Lip ColorSandwashed Pink: is my favourite nude lipstick, I have to find something very similar, might be so of the Nyx or Charlotte Tilbury Pillow talk or Kiss Kiss will be the one.

Lux Lip Color- Parisian Red and Sunset Orange: I love these vibrant colors, which are creamy, nearly matte but with a nice finish. The Parisian Red is a warm rich red, with some blue undertone, might be Urban Decay Vice Cream Lipstick in F-Bomb or No-Tell Motel gonna be the dupe for this. Sunset Orange is the one, which I have not seen any CF dupes for yet, so keep searching.

Perfectly Defined Long-Wear Brow Pencil is a dupe of Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Brow definer, so as it will finish it will time to buy its original in blonde.

I hope you have enjoyed the list, if you have any suggestions just comment below.

My favourite Dove products:

  • I used to love their basic line: shower gel and the soap.

I know their Dove Men shower gel is so adored by my husband, so I will be happy to try some of their other products.

Getting cruelty free- makeup issue part 1

Hi lovelies,

Let’s continue crueltyfreeserie the with the most interesting part, my makeup bag! I have tried to find so alternatives of the products that I really like, but so make of them are not cruelty free, so I had to make some research. Firstly I am going to start with my drug store section, all these are cheaper and easier to restore. With my high end ones, I try to sell or give away or just replace with cruelty free ones, when they are out.

My current cruelty free products.

These all are not!

Eyeliners: I am having 4 to restore:

  • Yves Rocher: 12- Bleu Agave and 09- Blue Paradis- they are so creamy and not so long lasting, even thought they are pencils I used them a lot like a liner. Yves Rocher sells there product in China, so replacement goes to Stila- Intense Sapphire (Bleu Paradis), which is out from China since 2016.
  • Artdeco Kajal Liner 02- simple black liner, honestly it was not a big love as it is not so soft and neither well pigmented…
  • L’Oréal: liner, I love this go to liner now I have bought a new one from NYX

Lipsticks:

  • Rimmel- Kate 03: it is a pinkish browy nude shade, this color is nice, but it is not so long lasting and I am just simply hate how it smells, that is why I do not use it a lot. People consider it as a MAC: Velvet Teddy dupe
  • Rimmel- The only 1: Peachy Beachy: the perfect peach color but not way too creamy and after a half hour it is disappears or on my teeth…
  • Maybelline- Shine Pink Shock: okay I am not a lipgloss fan, this is having a nice shine and not sticky, so might need to replace it later.

Nails:

In Generally I tend to say I am not a big nailpolish fan, I was so suprised how much I have, but mostly they are so old… so I have take all my Maybelline, L’Oréal, Bourjois, Oriflame, Yves Rocher and Sally Hansen products to the trash without any heartbreaking moment. Kiko, BeYu, Pupa, Catrice and Crystal Nails left in my collection If they not dried out…

+ Mascara: I have ordered my favourite Too Faced one to replace my L’Oreal Lash Paradise;)

+ Bobbi Brown: Stick Foundation will be finished soon and not going to repurchase it.

Of course those which are still good will goes to a local girls home as a charity.

9 brands which are shockingly non cruelty free

Hi lovelies,

My cruelty free series are on today, with this quick 10 brands, which are not cruelty free, but I thought they are so it is might be a bit shocking not just for me but also for you. I am not going to talk about MAC or NARS (which used to be cruelty free), neither the most common drugstore brands, like L’Oréal – Bourjois- Rimmel or high-end brands, like Bobbi Brown, Estée Lauder or Dior ect. which are all sell in China.

Here is the list:

  • Yves Rocher: I am might be too naive, but I was on the way of thinking as they do not test on animals because they are natural, parabens free ect. but I just come to realization they do as selling in China. Alternative brand: The Body Shop or Lush.
  • Shiseido:I was might a bit mixing as a Korean Brand, but Japanese Shiseido do test on animals because of their Chinese market.
  • Bioderma: French pharmacies brand’s Chinese website is not so hard to find… so question: what will be their Sensibio H2O alternative?
  • Claudalie: Since I trying to go cruelty free, I am really on a searching side… I wanted to try their Mist as an alternative of MAC, but I have found no no.
  • Glamglow: I was so waiting their new products to launch in Hungary, until my friend came home from China with a Glamglow mask…
  • Khiel’s: it is the American pharmacies company, with Chinese retail … opss
  • L’Occatine: the first sight was sawing their product at duty free stores, then researched and boom… it is the same as Yves Rocher- natural but sell in China
  • Vichy: some as NUXE, La Roche-Posay or Bioderma:

The only possible exception is if regulatory authorities required it for safety or regulatory purposes.

  • Artdeco: German high-end brand also sells at China, even in Europe they most not test. Brand instead: Zoeva or Misslyn

In generally I can admit, even if they are natural based or pharmacies safe brands they do test on animals if it is required by the law, which is true for the Chinese market, which offers more profit than to be ethnical for most of them. As well as I would be grateful if Chinese Government would change that law.

Cruelty free hair care

Hi lovelies,

The cruelty free series on after my skin care routine where is my hair care routine. Previously I was not so conscious, so I had to change nearly my whole shelf. Firstly I will write about my basics and then the styling products which I used to use and currently use:

  • Shampoo: I was so heartbroken, when I have found the fact that Yves Rocher is not cruelty free anymore, so I just have bought this Neobio Sensitive shampoo, which I have tried only once so I hope it is going to be working for me. No silicone,no parabens,no perfume, vegan and gluten free- sound amazing:)
  • Conditioner: I was a really huge fan of Elseve (Elvive) by L’Oréal for ages. I have changed to a little indie product for 2 months and it is so good. This is a small German Brand, exclusive at DM: Langhaarmadchen: Intensive Repair, which is a products for long hair girls:). I think I will try their other products as well, because this conditioner makes my hair so smooth, shine and weightless.
  • Leave-in conditioner:Gliss Kur Total Repair Express conditioner was my cult fav for ages, I loved to use it on my towel dry hair, just to get some extra shine and repair, now I have changed Bleach London-  one. (I seems the same after 1 use).
  • Hair oil: That was a point, where I am using The Body Shop Argan Oil (beauty oil category as it is good for skin too) for 2 years now, which is a really rich oil. I have their jar package, now they have changed it into a spray oil version.

Styling:

  • Heat protector spray: I rarely use hair straightener or haircurler, but when am I, it is the Balea: Hitze Schutz Spray for ages, it is one of the cheapest in the market, but still so good.Balea-Haarprofis-Hitzeschutzspray-1000x600
  • Wave spray: salty water wave spray is my must have: I have used Tony&Guy and then L’Oréal Stylista, but now I have ordered Ouai Wave Spray to try a finally cruelty free one.
  • Dry shampoo: Yet I have used Aussie (travel size) really rare on bad hair days, but this is a product which I do not need so… I am looking for my future to be.
  • Hairspray: I used Taft, but Have not purchased a cruelty free alternative yet, as I am not really using these styling sprays…looking for your suggestions.

I did not write about hair mask, bacause I use a DIY: olive oil or egg-coconut-lemon combo- these are more natural and costsmuch less.

Which are your favourite hair care products? Let me to know done at the comments.

My cruelty free skin care

Hi lovelies,

In my previous post I have written about my decision that I wish to become cruelty free. I am starting with my skin care as I think it is going to be the one, which I am using cruelty free products the most and will be the most easiest to adapt. I try to avoid parabens for a long time.

firstly I have examined my current skin care products in my bathroom.

  • Body cream: The Body Shop: Body Butter is my old time fav, specially in the shea butter version:) Yves Rocher: Body Lotion is a bit lighter, honestly I have never purchased them, always received as a gift, Lemon Brasil a bit much but still all right for me, rally gives the energizing illusion.

    IMG_4392

  • Leg cream: Balea:Totes Meer with Death sea salt and olive oil and Herbaria: Calendula cream– I stand a way too much, which is not health at all so I tend to use more care of my feet.
  • Handcream: L’Occatine handcream– Pieere Hermé:Pamplemousse Rhubarbe (Limited edition)- believe it or not this expensive handcream i not cruelty free so I should look for something else- I do have only a tiny bit in it.IMG_4390
  • Products, which I have threw away: Dove:DermaSpa – firstly it is not cruelty free, secondly I cannot stand its smell, so that is why I only tried 3-4 times only and do not gives a nice tan at all.

IMG_4391

  • Face Cleaner: Bioderma- Sébium Gel Moussant: Even this foam is for oil skin, it is also works well on my combination skin, hypoallergenic, cruelty and parabens free and relatively cheap.
  • Make up remover: Bioderma:Sensibio H2O micellar water is a cult fav. I have written about it Best of Pharmacy My fav beauty product of 2017
  • Day cream: The Body Shop: Vitamine E (Normal/Combination Skin): The advanced new formula of the Vitmine E and I love it even better, it is vegan, without mineral oil and parafin gel moisturizer. Evian:Brumisateur: mineral water for touch up and moisture during the day.
  • Night cream: The Body Shop: Tea Tree Night mask, this line for oil skin, so I do use it in a really tiny amount at the night, really nicely clearing.
  • Eye cream: The Body Shop: Drops of Youth a gel based eye mask, I lot to use this magnetic applicator with it.
  • Serum: L’occatine: Comforting Face Oil– this expensive serum is not cruelty free why? I still have a lot in it, so might will give away, not bad but I might turn back to Khielh’s oil for 1-2 times a week use.
  • Lipscrub: was an H&M one originally, but now I use a DIY in this jar with brown sugar and coconut oil mixed together.
  • Exfoliating: Geek&Gorgeous: Calm down Hungarian beauty products
  • Mask: I do not have an exact mask now, but looking for a deep cleaning clay mask. The Body Shop Himalaya Clay mask would be cool, but I have to think about due to the price tag. I do have to make some research on Himalaya Herbals, because their meen mask just amazing, even thought I do not know whether they are cruelty free.

+ Pupa Mask tested: It is a Black peel-off pore perfecting mask, which written “the deep cleansing action of Bamboo charcoal helps to remove blackheads, free clogged pores from impurities and absorb excess sebum.” OMG this is a really big no, it does nothing with pores, but my nose feels heart, thankfully I only tried it on it… no way to use it once more. I think I will go back to a deep cleaning clay mask!

Looking forward to your suggestions in the comment below: what are your favourite cruelty free skin care products? Clay mask? Serum for combination skin?

Getting cruelty free

Hi lovelies!

Last time I just did clear out and as you might know I try to avoid Overconsumption for a year, so I am getting conscious buyer, now it is time to get cruelty free! So I decided to have only purchases from now are against animal testing.

Animal testing is one of the most brutal thing what beauty industry do during their producing process. In the EU 1223/2009 Cosmetics Regulation (EC) is absolutely against animal testing, but certain companies do pay for the Chinese Authority to test their products to be able to sell it on one of the biggest market: China.

I have download Cruelty-cutter app to scan the products code before buying, it was really shocking that most of my products tested on animals. So by the time I am using it out, but after it I will only replace them by cruelty free ones. I did some research on the Brand websites CrueltyfreeInternational and PETA, but I avoided Crueltyfreekitty.com as my phone, laptop, iPad all considered it as an unsafe website. Below I have find a nice list from loveangela.blog.

I know it is going to be a whole series and a long period replacing everything with cruelty  free skin care and make-up.
